From conception I have led the architectural design and development processes to create CONNECT’s onboarding and compliance platform that is in use by banks and housing associations in the Caribbean. The success of this platform has led to the partnership between CONNECT and Grant Thornton, a global tax and accountancy firm, which is targeting the global expansion of this product to their member and client firms.

Key innovations that make the CONNECT platform unique:

  • Containerised white-label architecture provides rapid, customised, and versioned roll out of instances to client infrastructure which provides compliance of data domicile and GDPR compliance and clear physical separation of clients.

  • Customisable workflows tailored to specific client and process needs – both on the a per client basis and within the same client deployment – without requiring code changes. Single codebase across all clients.

  • Role based authorisation ensuring customisable levels of access, preventing unauthorised access to information on a workflow level.

  • All customer provided information, and files encrypted at rest, decrypted only when required, by authorised users.

  • Compliance approved electronic documents – enabling clients to electronically sign documents removing complexity and speeding up signing of contracts and other legal documents.

  • Automated AML & KYC checks – during onboarding of clients a series of automated checks against global anti-financial crime databases completed within seconds, flagging potential risks for further investigation.

  • ID Verification – onboarding clients provide their relevant ID documents (passport, local ID, drivers license) through their phone or webcam and provide a live “likeness” to provide additional layers of confirmation to their identity.

  • Expedited onboarding process using OCR to extract information from uploaded documents, cleaned and processed using secure and compliant generative AI tools.

This has rapidly reduced the time taken to complete often lengthy onboarding forms by prepopulating them with information extracted from uploaded documentation such as contracts and identity documents.

  • The use of generative AI to provide an interface to interrogate the onboarding data using freeform questions.

This enables back-office staff to quickly ask questions about the data and to quickly flag potential areas that may require further compliance checks.

Technology used:

  • ASP.NET Core (workers, API), Automated testing using MS Test framework.
  • SSO Oath2 based authentication.
  • Microservice architecture deployed through docker containers.
  • External Services including Shufti Pro, Right Signature, Azure OpenAI Service, Azure AI Vision
